Winds of Adversity and Opposition Can Work for You. Part Two

God Bless the Broken Road Part 2

      By Rev. Liz Hinzie

      · Adversity

Our hearts were convinced that the Way of Faith was greater than anything the world had to offer. We shared our moments of gladness and we walked the broken road side by side, and we faced our fears and shared our tears, all by God’s sovereign grace. Some are still here, and some have gone home, but now I am in great company.

God has blessed the Broken Road, for He too has been this way. Just think of it, Jesus walked those cobbled stones, of jagged edges, and across shattered chards of broken hearts, for that was the reason he came; to nail our broken lives to the cross, so the world would be saved.

Many of us have landed at the threshold of brokenness unprepared, because life didn’t turn out the way we planned. For we planned our future, we had dreams of hope and prosperity, we dreamed of happy lives. We can resist it and resent it and fight against it, or, we can sail on the Wings of Adversity.

Thru the waves of hardships, disappointments, rejections and such, just when we think we can’t take another hard thing, we discover that God’s plan for our lives may be different than what we hoped for. In order for God’s plan to be fulfilled in our lives, sometimes, he has to let our lives fall apart, shattered, with no chance of all the kings horses and all the kings men, to put you back together again. Sometimes God has to allow those hard and painful things to happen, so we have nothing to turn to but to Him, not to destroy us, but to lift us higher.

When we are traveling on the Broken Road, it is easy to let our fears and hurt and anger get in the way, and cause us to stay stuck in bitterness and despair. This is when we must realize, that God has something better that can only be brought out by the worst done to us.

This is a journey where we must put our faith in God and trust He will show us the way. God is the WAY MAKER, where there is no other way. We must drop our plan, and embrace His. We must stop the resisting, for it is God we are wrestling with. If we want God’s plan for our lives, then we must embrace the broken road. It exists in order that we will forfeit our plans, So That, we will become, pliable, moldable, in the Father’s hands.

We must empty ourselves of self, so that God can fill us with Him. If we are so full of ourselves, there is no room in the Inn, for Him. How can God put anything in us, if we are so full of ourselves with our own desires, wants, and selfish ambitions? If we will empty ourselves of self, God will replace it with a new plan, a new dream, with new desires and more hope than one could ever imagine.

God has a plan! My life IS His plan. My life, my mess, all for His Glory. God decides my destiny. God decides the plan for my life, for he created me for it. For it is written, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Cor. 2:9.

Dear Lord, I couldn’t see that every broken thing was like a compass, pointing me straight to you. With all my lost hopes and dreams, and failed plans, led me like bread crumbs, straight to you. Those who broke my heart, they were like the Bethlehem Star, leading me straight into your loving arms. God, you have blessed my broken road, and you smile and take my hand, for you’ve been there too; so, you understand, it’s all part of your grander plan. Help me Lord to empty myself so that you can come in and fill this vessel with more of you. Amen.
